The finalists for the 2023 Heisman Trophy have been announced. The four contenders are Jayden Daniels from Louisiana State University (LSU), Bo Nix from the University of Oregon, Michael Penix Jr. from the University of Washington, and Marvin Harrison Jr. from Ohio State University.
Jayden Daniels, the quarterback for LSU, is aiming to become the third player from his university to win the prestigious award. He has had an impressive season, with statistics comparable to those of 2019 Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow.
Marvin Harrison Jr., a wide receiver for Ohio State, is looking to become the eighth player from his university to win the Heisman. He has had a dominant season, with 14 touchdowns and over 1,200 receiving yards.
Bo Nix, the quarterback for Oregon, is hoping to become the second player from his university to win the award. Since transferring to Oregon, Nix has excelled, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns.
Michael Penix Jr., the quarterback for Washington, is striving to become the first player from his university to win the Heisman. Despite overcoming multiple season-ending injuries, Penix Jr. has led Washington to an undefeated season.
This year marks the first time since 2010 that the Pac-12 has had two Heisman finalists. Interestingly, three of the four finalists are transfers. The winner of the 2023 Heisman Trophy will be announced on December 9th.
