Amazon MGM to Adapt Colleen Hoover's 'Verity': A Romantic Thriller Unveiled
Colleen Hoover's bestselling romantic thriller, 'Verity,' is set to be adapted for the big screen by Amazon MGM Studios. The novel, which was self-published by Hoover in 2018 and later acquired by Grand Central Publishing in 2021, has spent months on the New York Times Best Sellers list and sold over one million copies in 2023 alone.
The story follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who accepts a job offer from Jeremy Crawford to complete the remaining books in his wife Verity's successful thriller series. Upon arrival at the Crawford estate, Lowen discovers dark secrets and unfinished manuscripts that may reveal chilling admissions about the family's past.
Hillary Seitz, known for her work on Netflix's 'The Unforgivable,' is currently writing the script for this adaptation. Nick Antosca and Alex Hedlund of Eat the Cat Productions are producing.
Verity has been described as a gothic, psychosexual thriller in the vein of Rebecca and Gone Girl. This marks Hoover's second major Hollywood adaptation, following It Ends With Us which stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
