Brad Pitt is set to star in an upcoming Formula 1 movie titled 'F1,' which is being produced by Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. Pictures. The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski, follows Pitt as a former Formula 1 driver named Sonny Hayes who returns to the sport and partners with rookie teammate Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) at the fictional APXGP team. The movie is currently in production and has been filming at real F1 events, including the British Grand Prix.
Sonny Hayes, played by Pitt, has a history of crashing and disappearing from the sport. His friend and team owner is portrayed by Javier Bardem. APXGP is a last-placed team that has never scored a point in Formula 1. They have Joshua Pearce as their other driver.
The movie also stars Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo. Filming for 'F1' took place at real F1 events including the British Grand Prix.
Brad Pitt has been attending several F1 races to do some filming for the movie. He and Damson Idris were scheduled to be on hand for Sunday's British Grand Prix, as well as the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December.
Lewis Hamilton, who has won plenty of Formula 1 championships himself, has been involved in many aspects of the film including scriptwriting.
The movie is set to be released internationally on June 25, 2025 and in North America on June 27, 2025.
