A man was arrested in connection with the deaths of two adults whose remains were found in suitcases in southwest England on July 13, 2024. The Metropolitan Police detained the suspect, a 34-year-old man, at a train station in Bristol early Saturday morning.
The victims have not yet been formally identified but both are believed to be adults. Human remains were also found at an address in Shepherd's Bush, west London, on July 12, which are believed to be connected to those found in the suitcases.
The manhunt began after police received reports of a man behaving suspiciously near Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol on July 11. Officers arrived at the scene but the suspect had already left, leaving behind two suitcases containing human remains. The bridge was cordoned off and forensic teams were called to the scene.
The Metropolitan Police previously named Colombian national Yostin Andres Mosquera as someone they wished to locate and speak to in connection with the investigation. However, a 36-year-old man who was arrested in Greenwich in southeast London on July 12 has since been released without charge.
The Metropolitan Police are conducting extensive enquiries and have urged anyone with information to come forward. The public is being reassured that there is no need to be alarmed, but officers will remain in the Clifton and Shepherd's Bush areas over the coming days to provide reassurance.
The victims' families are being informed of the developments in the investigation and formal identification processes are ongoing. The Metropolitan Police have asked for anyone with concerns or information to contact them directly.
This is a developing story and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
