British police have arrested a 34-year-old Colombian national, Yostin Andres Mosquera, in connection with the discovery of human remains in suitcases at Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol and West London.
The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation after two suitcases containing human remains were found on the bridge on Wednesday. Avon and Somerset Police initially responded to a report of a man acting suspiciously near the bridge, but he had left before officers arrived.
On Thursday, police announced that they believed the remains found in Bristol were connected to those discovered in West London. They released an image of Mosquera and asked for the public's help in locating him.
Mosquera was arrested at a train station in Bristol early on Saturday morning and taken into custody. He will be questioned by police regarding the discovery of the human remains.
The Metropolitan Police have stated that they are no longer looking for anyone else in connection with the case, but formal identification of the victims has not yet taken place.
Both sets of human remains were found inside suitcases. The investigation is ongoing, and forensic teams are working to determine the cause of death and identify the victims.
The Clifton Suspension Bridge, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and opened in 1864, reopened on Thursday after being closed for more than 24 hours following the discovery of the remains. It typically has around 11,000 to 12,000 vehicle crossings a day.
