Buffalo Bills Make Moves in NFL Draft and Sign Undrafted Free Agents
The Buffalo Bills had an active NFL Draft, making trades to acquire more picks and selecting players that fit their roster needs. In addition, they signed several undrafted free agents (UDFA), including the son of a former Bills player.
Trading Back in Round One Buffalo's general manager, Brandon Beane, took a different approach this year by staying patient and trading back instead of moving up in round one. The team traded their first-round pick (No. 28) to Kansas City for a third-round pick (No. 95), a swap of seventh-round picks, and an additional fifth-round pick (No. 141).
Three Picks on Day Two With three picks on day two, the Bills were able to address various positions of need. They selected Keon Coleman in the third round from Florida State as a big-bodied outside receiver and DeWayne Carter in the fifth round from Duke as a defensive tackle.
UDFA Signings The Bills also signed several undrafted free agents, including Frank Gore Jr., RB (Southern Miss), Xavier Johnson, WR (Ohio State), Keaton Bills, OG (Utah), Gunner Britton, OL (Auburn), Jack Browning, P (San Diego State), Lawrence Keys III, WR (Tulane), Keni-H Lovely, CB (Western Michigan), Branson Deen, DL (Miami) and Mike Edwards OT (Campbell).
Frank Gore Jr.'s Father's Emotional Response Gore Jr.'s father, Frank Gore Sr., who spent a season with the Buffalo Bills in 2019, was emotional about his son joining the team. The elder Gore is a Hall of Fame running back with over 16,000 career rushing yards.
Previous Success with UDFAs The Bills have had success signing undrafted free agents in the past and several have made the roster. With training camp approaching, these new additions will compete for spots on the team.
