In a star-studded event held in New York City on June 13, 2024, the Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Dinner honored some of the most influential figures in music. Among those recognized were Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, SZA, and many more.
Carrie Underwood made a stunning entrance on the red carpet in a high-low gown with a silver chrome chest plate and a glitzy skirt that bunched up at the front. She completed her look with sky-high silver heels and her blonde hair styled in loose curls. The country singer, who recently suffered an on-stage fall following a performance in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, looked radiant as she posed for photographers.
SZA was another notable attendee who received the Hal David Starlight Award for her impact on the music industry through her original songwriting. She expressed her gratitude for the recognition and shared that it meant a lot to her as a Black woman in the industry.
The evening also saw honors given to Dean Pitchford, R.E.M., Steely Dan, Timbaland, and the late Cindy Walker. Diane Warren received the Johnny Mercer Award, which is the organization's highest honor.
Other performers and presenters included Nile Rodgers, Paul Williams, Priscilla Presley, Richie Sambora, El DeBarge, Desmond Child, Trey Anastasio and Kevin Bacon with his brother Michael Bacon. The brothers were on hand to honor Dean Pitchford for his work on the 1984 film Footloose.
