Chargers Sign Veteran Edge Rusher Bud Dupree to Bolster Defensive Line after Career Resurgence

The Los Angeles Chargers have signed veteran edge rusher Bud Dupree to bolster their defensive line. Dupree, 31, had a career resurgence with the Atlanta Falcons last season, recording 6.5 sacks and 39 tackles in 16 games.

A first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015, Dupree spent six seasons with the team before joining the Tennessee Titans for two years. He then played for the Falcons last season.

Dupree's most productive year came in 2019 when he finished with a career-high 11.5 sacks and four forced fumbles for Pittsburgh.

The Chargers currently have Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa as their starting edge rushers, but Dupree's addition provides depth to the position. Tuli Tuipulotu is also a viable option for the team.

Dupree was a team captain at the University of Kentucky and ended his college career ranked No. 2 in program history with 23.5 sacks.

The Chargers have been adding depth to their roster, focusing on competition and improving their defense under new coach Brandon Staley.
