COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three people have lost their lives and three others are fighting for theirs following separate shooting incidents in Columbus, Ohio, early Saturday morning. According to reports from various sources including ABC 6 and WSYX, the first incident occurred near Weinland Park on East Fifth Avenue and Summit Street around 2:45 a.m.
Three individuals were killed in this shooting incident. Two of them were pronounced dead at the scene while the third died later in an area hospital. The victims have been identified as Malachi Pee, Da'ondre Bullock, and Garcia Dixon Jr.
The second shooting occurred in the Italian Village neighborhood north of downtown Columbus around 3 a.m., according to CBS News.
Deputy Chief Gregory Bodker described the scene as 'very chaotic' with three deceased individuals and three others taken to hospitals. One victim was in critical condition while two others were stable.
No suspects have been identified in either shooting incident, and it is unclear what led up to the violence.
The Columbus Division of Police, Franklin County Sheriff's Office, and other law enforcement agencies are currently investigating both incidents. Witnesses are cooperating with authorities.
These tragic events mark a difficult week for the Columbus community and its officers who have been working diligently to reduce violent crime in the city. The fewest number of homicides year to date than in the last eight years has not prevented this unfortunate turn of events.
