Accessory manufacturers Dbrand and JerryRigEverything have filed a lawsuit against CASETiFY, alleging that the latter copied their phone skin designs. The designs in question are the 'Teardown' skins and cases, which are designed to mimic the internal components of the devices they are applied to. These products were created in collaboration with YouTuber Zack 'JerryRigEverything' Nelson.

Dbrand and Nelson claim that CASETiFY's 'Inside Out' line is a poorly masked version of their Teardown products. They allege that CASETiFY's Inside Out cases even feature Dbrand's logo, which they claim is a clear indication of design theft. The lawsuit alleges that CASETiFY copied 117 of Dbrand's designs, for which Dbrand holds the registered copyright.

In addition to the logo, Dbrand and Nelson point to several 'easter eggs' placed in the Teardown skins that they claim can also be found in CASETiFY's designs. These include numerous tweaks and layout changes that they argue are too similar to be coincidental.

Following the announcement of the lawsuit, CASETiFY has removed its Inside Out line from its website. The lawsuit is seeking multi-million dollar damages for the alleged copyright infringement. The case is ongoing and it remains to be seen how the court will rule on the matter.
