Delta, the popular retro game emulator, has recently released an update for both iPhone and iPad users. The new Delta 1.6 version brings several exciting features exclusive to iPad users.
Firstly, the update introduces native iPad support that allows multiple games to be played simultaneously. This feature is a significant improvement as previously, the app was only available in letterboxed format on iPads, limiting its touch controls and preventing full use of the device's screen.
Additionally, Delta 1.6 offers Stage Manager support for resizable windows and Handoff capabilities. These features enable users to easily switch between games or continue their gaming sessions from an iPhone on their iPad.
The update also includes UI optimization, making full use of the iPad's large screen and improving touchscreen buttons with new virtual controllers. Furthermore, Delta has changed its logo to avoid any legal action from Adobe.
Delta is a multi-console emulator that currently supports NES, SNES, N64, Game Boy, GBA, and Nintendo DS. It also offers AirPlay support for playing games on TVs. The app's popularity stems from its ability to provide an upgraded retro gaming experience with the abundance of third-party accessories available and supported by Delta.
The new Delta 1.6 update is now available in Europe via AltStore PAL, but Apple has yet to approve it for the App Store. EU users can download it immediately, while others will have to wait a little longer.
Delta's developer, Riley Testut, previously stated that providing native iPadOS support was a priority over other 'big' features. With this update now live, Testut can focus on exciting new features like device-to-device multiplayer and Sega Genesis emulation.
