In a move that could shake up the streaming industry, Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery have announced plans to bundle their streaming services, Disney+, Hulu, and Max. The new offering will provide subscribers with access to an extensive library of content from these three platforms.
According to reports, the bundle will be available this summer in both ad-supported and ad-free tiers. Disney has been offering its streaming services as a bundle for some time now, but Warner Bros. Discovery's Max is joining the fold, marking a cross-corporation collaboration.
The new bundle will give subscribers access to an impressive array of content from ABC, Fox, TNT, TBS, CNN, Discovery Channel, Food Network, Disney Channel and more. The offering includes popular shows such as 'The Bear,' 'Shogun,' 'House of Dragon' and Bluey.'
Disney recently integrated Hulu content into Disney+ for customers who have both services. Warner Bros. Discovery is expected to introduce even more choices from their respective libraries.
The streaming landscape has seen a steady erosion of the pay-TV industry, with media companies partnering up on streaming bundles in an attempt to reconstitute cable TV. The perk for consumers is typically a discounted price compared with paying for individual services separately.
Disney+ currently boasts over 100 million subscribers, while Hulu reaches another 50 million. Including the linear version of HBO, Max reaches more than 97 million homes. The new bundle is expected to offer even more value and choice for consumers.
The financial details of the bundle have yet to be disclosed. However, Disney recently revealed that its service had lost 1.3 million subscribers in the previous quarter, while Max lost 2.5 million subscribers in 2023.
This new partnership puts consumers first and offers them access to blockbuster films, originals, and three massive libraries featuring the very best brands and entertainment in streaming today.
