Disney is reportedly working on a sequel to the 2000s hit film, The Devil Wears Prada. Meryl Streep is set to reprise her role as Miranda Priestley, facing the decline of traditional magazine publishing and in desperate need of advertising dollars from Emily Blunt's character, Emily Charlton. The sequel will reportedly see Miranda at the end of her career and forced to rely on the advertising dollars of Emily Charlton's high-powered luxury group. Original screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is said to be in talks to return for the sequel. It is unclear if Anne Hathaway, who played Andy Sachs in the original film, will also take part in the reported sequel. IGN has reached out to Disney for confirmation.
The original movie, which starred Hathaway and Blunt as Miranda Priestley's embattled assistants at the fictional high-end Runway fashion magazine, was a major hit in its day, generating over $325 million worldwide. The film was based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel, which was said to be partly inspired by influential US Vogue editor Anna Wintour and her relationship with author and former personal assistant Lauren Weisberger. The Devil Wears Prada has also been adapted into a successful musical, with Vanessa Williams taking on the role of Miranda Priestley. The stage production is currently set to open in London later this year.

No informal fallacies were found. There are some potential formal fallacies, specifically a false claim and an unstated assumption. The false claim is that the Devil Wears Prada sequel is reportedly in the works at Disney with Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt reprising their characters, sourced from Puck. This has not been officially confirmed by Disney or any other official source, making this a potentially misleading statement. The unstated assumption is that Anne Hathaway will not be returning for the sequel, based on her previous statements. No evidence is provided to confirm whether she has been contacted or if she has agreed not to participate in the sequel.

It is not known if Anne Hathaway will reprise her role as Andrea Sachs. She sounded doubtful in an interview earlier this year. ‘I don’t think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen’, she said.

The author makes several statements about the success of 'The Devil Wears Prada' movie and its impact on the careers of its stars. While these statements are factually accurate, they can be considered an appeal to authority as they rely on the reputation and accomplishments of the film rather than providing evidence or reasoning for why a sequel is necessary or worthwhile. However, since this is not a significant portion of the article and does not detract from understanding the main point about the development of a sequel, I will not deduct many points for this fallacy.

The article contains an appeal to authority by mentioning the success of the original film and its cast. It also uses inflammatory rhetoric by stating that the original film was 'based on a true story' when it was actually a work of fiction. Additionally, there is a dichotomous depiction of Anne Hathaway's skepticism about a sequel as evidence against the possibility of one, implying that her opinion is definitive.
