Dyson, the renowned British technology company, has entered the wireless headphone market with its latest innovation, the OnTrac headphones. These new headphones offer advanced active noise-cancellation (ANC) technology and are designed for comfort and style.
According to Dyson's engineers, the OnTrac headphones use technology that samples sounds 384,000 times per second and reduces unwanted noise by up to 40dB. The headphones have a frequency range of 6Hz to 21kHz and support SBC, AAC, and LDAC audio codecs.
Each ear cushion is made from ultra-soft microfiber material and high-grade foam for comfort and an enhanced acoustic seal. The OnTrac headphones have two built-in lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 5080mAh, providing up to 55 hours of listening time with ANC turned on.
The new OnTrac headphones from Dyson can be customized with special outer caps and ear cushions in a wide range of colors and finishes. The company's reputation for innovative technology and stylish designs is expected to disrupt the wireless headphone market.
However, it's important to note that there have been conflicting reports about the OnTrac headphones not having an air filtration system like Dyson's previous Zone headphones. The Zone headphones combined air filtration expertise with noise-cancelling technology but had a short battery life and a high price of $949.
Dyson has launched its first 'audio-only' over-ear headphones called OnTrac, priced at $500. The OnTrac headphones feature active noise cancellation (ANC) performance and audio quality. They are designed with over 2,000 customization combinations for the outer caps and ear cushions.
The company has used premium materials such as aluminum, copper, nickel, and ceramics for the outer caps on the ear cups. The ultra-soft microfiber foam cushions on the ear pads provide comfort to users. Multi-pivot gimbal arms are included to increase comfort and relieve pressure on the OnTrac headphones.
The battery is located in the headband for better weight distribution in the OnTrac design. Dyson has incorporated 40mm, 16-ohm neodymium speaker drivers into the OnTrac headphones. The ANC setup includes eight microphones that sample external sound 384,000 times a second and work with a custom noise-cancelling algorithm and 'carefully designed internal geometry' for 40dB of noise blocking.
The OnTrac headphones are claimed to have up to 55 hours of use with ANC on, thanks to two high-capacity lithium-ion battery cells. A 10-minute charge provides up to 2.5 hours of use and a 30-minute charge offers 9.5 hours of use with ANC on.
