HAMPTON - A fatal rollover crash occurred at the Hampton toll plaza on I-95 southbound on May 26, 2024, resulting in the death of Nicholas D. Killinger, a 44-year-old man from Wilbraham, Massachusetts. The incident marked the second serious crash involving a vehicle hitting a barrier at the tolls reported by New Hampshire State Police within three days.

According to police reports, Killinger was driving his 2013 Ford F-250 pickup truck in the cash toll collection area when he lost control and struck a concrete barrier in front of the toll booth. The impact caused the truck to roll over and come to rest near a toll booth.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after, finding Killinger unconscious and trapped inside the burning vehicle. With assistance from multiple good Samaritans, troopers attempted to extinguish the fire using several fire extinguishers. Firefighters soon arrived and successfully put out the flames.

Despite their efforts, Killinger succumbed to his injuries at the scene and was pronounced dead. He was the sole occupant of the truck.

The crash resulted in all southbound lanes of the cash area being closed for approximately two hours during investigation and debris removal. The open-road toll lanes remained operational.

On May 24, a passenger sustained serious injuries when a vehicle hit a concrete barrier on the northbound side of Hampton Toll Plaza in an unrelated incident.
