NBA Summer League: Standout Players from Day 5
The NBA Summer League wrapped up its fifth day of action with several impressive performances. Here's a look at some of the standout players and their contributions to their respective teams:
Keyonte George, Utah Jazz
Keyonte George continued his strong play in the Utah Jazz's victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. The sophomore guard scored a game-high 31 points on 9-for-15 shooting, including going 11-for-12 from the free throw line. George also dished out five assists and sealed the win with twelve points in the final five minutes.
Keshad Johnson, Miami Heat
Undrafted free agent Keshad Johnson impressed for the Miami Heat in their 80-76 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. He finished with 21 points on 8-for-14 shooting, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocks. After the game, Johnson expressed his excitement about joining the Miami Heat organization.
Keon Ellis, Sacramento Kings
Keon Ellis scored a team-high thirty points on twelve-for-twenty-one shooting for the Sacramento Kings in their 91-90 loss to the Warriors. He also added five rebounds and four assists.
Ajay Mitchell, Oklahoma City Thunder
Ajay Mitchell led the Oklahoma City Thunder to victory over the Memphis Grizzlies with twenty-one points on 7-for-9 shooting and five rebounds in just twenty-one minutes. The former UC Santa Barbara star looked polished and poised in his NBA Summer League debut.
Colin Castleton, Los Angeles Lakers
Colin Castleton finished with eighteen points, eleven rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals for the Los Angeles Lakers in their 80-76 loss to the Miami Heat. The big man appeared in sixteen games for the Lakers last season and will look to build on his Summer League performance heading into next season.
Both the Utah Jazz and Philadelphia 76ers had strong showings at the Salt Lake City Summer League, while the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers competed in Las Vegas. The NBA Summer League concludes on July 15 with championship games in both cities.
