Powerball Jackpot of $215 Million Won in Florida
A lucky lottery player in Florida has won the estimated $215 million Powerball jackpot, making them an instant multi-millionaire. The winning numbers for Monday's drawing were 7, 23, 24, 56 and 60. The Powerball number was 25.
The winner has the option to receive their prize as an annuity or a cash payment of $100.1 million before taxes.
This marks the third time in just over a month that someone has won a massive lottery jackpot, following the $1.3 billion Powerball win in Oregon and the $856 million Mega Millions win in Michigan.
The winning ticket was purchased at Publix on Biscayne Boulevard in Miami Shores, Florida. In addition to the jackpot winner, a ticket sold in Idaho matched four numbers and the Powerball number to win $2 million with the Power Play feature.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. The next drawing will be on Wednesday with an estimated jackpot of $20 million.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292,201,388. However, players have a better chance of winning smaller prizes ranging from $4 to $1 million.
Powerball is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
