On the day of the incident, Huizar was due to appear in court on charges of child rape.
The first homicide occurred outside William Wiley Elementary School where a woman was found dead. The second homicide victim was discovered during a search of Huizar's home later that day.
An Amber Alert was issued for Roman Huizar, Elias Huizar's 1-year-old son, as he is believed to have taken the child and may be fleeing to Mexico.
Roman Huizar is approximately 2 feet tall, 25 pounds with brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hat, black long-sleeved shirt, light blue jeans and black shoes.
Elias Huizar is described as 5ft 6in with brown hair and brown eyes and was driving a Silver 2009 Toyota Corolla with Washington license plate number: CBZ-4745.
Huizar has a history of criminal charges, including rape in the second degree, furnishing alcohol for minors, and third-degree rape. He was accused of raping a 16-year-old girl after a night of drinking while working as a school resource officer at a middle school.
The Yakima Police Department confirmed that Huizar was an officer there from 2013 to 2022.
Police are urgently searching for Huizar and ask anyone with information to call 911.
