Epic Games, in collaboration with Harmonix, has launched a new game mode within Fortnite, known as Fortnite Festival. This rhythm-based game mode is a separate feature from the Chapter 5 Season 1 Battle Pass and is designed to revive the rhythm genre of gaming.
The Fortnite Festival mode offers two tracks: a Free track and a Premium track that costs 1,800 V-Bucks. Players can earn Festival Points by playing the Fortnite Festival game mode and completing quests. The Festival mode includes two stages: the main stage, which recreates the Rock Band experience, and the jam stage, which draws inspiration from Harmonix's mixing titles.
The Festival Jam Stage allows players to mix hit music using the Jam Tracks in their locker. Players can compete against friends for the best performance or team up to climb the leaderboards. The game mode also allows players to collaborate with others to create unique music combinations.
The Fortnite Festival mode features a variety of rewards such as Jam Tracks, Guitars, Keytars, Loading Screens, and The Weeknd's red suit Outfit. The Weeknd is the face of the inaugural season, with players able to choose his avatar and play some of his songs. The festival will also include songs from artists such as Alice Cooper, Imagine Dragons, Lady Gaga, Linkin Park, and Toto.
While the gameplay itself is not revolutionary, the game offers a fun and social experience within the world of Fortnite. The developers are also working on adding support for instrument peripherals in the future. Fortnite Festival is free to download and play, making it more accessible than previous music games that required additional purchases.
