Fortnite, the popular online video game, has introduced a new mode called Rocket Racing. This new addition was developed by Psyonix, the team behind the successful game Rocket League. The official trailer for Fortnite: Rocket Racing was unveiled at The Game Awards 2023.
Rocket Racing is a free-to-play mode that combines racing expertise with Fortnite's vibrant world. It allows players to race through maps alongside friends, utilizing Rocket League mechanics. The mode went live on Friday, Dec. 8, at 7 a.m. PST.
The game features 26 tracks and unique driving systems, making it a top-notch, all-ages racer. It stands out with its emphasis on drifting, boost management, and jumping. Players can use their Rocket League cars in Rocket Racing, with cross-game ownership allowing them to transfer their Octane, Cyclone, Jäger 619, or Lamborghini Huracán STO from their Rocket League garage to their Fortnite Locker. This is the start of cross-game ownership, with more options expected to come in the future.
Rocket Racing includes 26 tracks, three biomes, and both ranked and unranked modes. The mode features drifting, boost jumping, flipping, and flying mechanics. Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, has promised to support Rocket Racing with new features and cars throughout 2024, showcasing Fortnite's potential as an all-in-one gaming platform.
