Golf Star Scottie Scheffler: All Charges Dropped Following PGA Championship Arrest

In a dramatic turn of events, all charges against world No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler have been dismissed less than two weeks after his arrest during the PGA Championship. Scheffler had been charged with felony second-degree assault on a police officer, as well as third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from officers directing traffic following an incident at the Valhalla Golf Club on May 17. County Attorney Mike O'Connell stated that based upon the totality of the evidence, his office could not move forward with prosecution of the charges filed against Scheffler. This comes after Jefferson County prosecutors dropped charges against Scheffler on Wednesday, as they found that his claim of a misunderstanding was corroborated by the evidence. The judge accepted the prosecutor's motion to dismiss the charges with prejudice, meaning they cannot be refiled. As a result of the dismissal, Scheffler's attorney Steven Romines said that Scheffler does not want to pursue any litigation against the Louisville Metro Police Department or the city and simply wants to move on from the incident.
