Google I/O 2024, the annual developer conference hosted by tech giant Google, is scheduled for May 14. The event is expected to bring major announcements from the company, including updates on Android OS and potential new hardware releases. According to various leaks and reports, one of the anticipated products is the Google Pixel 8a.
The Pixel 8a is rumored to be a mid-range smartphone with a Tensor G3 chipset, 8GB RAM, and either 128GB or 256GB of on-board storage. The device's screen is said to be a 6.1-inch AMOLED display with up to 2,000 nits of brightness at its peak.
The rear cameras are reportedly 64MP and 13MP, and the selfie camera is a 13MP unit. The starting price for the Google Pixel 8a in Europe is €549.
In addition to the Pixel 8a, Google may also discuss Android 15 at I/O. Some of its predicted features include updated Privacy Sandbox, partial screen sharing, system-level app archiving, improved satellite connectivity, additional in-app camera controls and a new power efficiency mode.
Google could also reveal details about an AI assistant called Pixie as an exclusive feature for Pixel devices. Furthermore, the company might discuss generative AI updates for Search, Chrome, Maps and G Suite.
