Google Shifts Pixel Event to August 13, 2024: Unveiling the Pixel 9 Series, New Foldable Device and Wear OS Update

Google announced its annual Pixel hardware event will take place on August 13, 2024, a significant departure from the usual October timeframe for new Pixel releases. The event in Mountain View, California will showcase the best of Google AI, Android software and the Pixel portfolio of devices. Expected product launches include the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and possibly a new foldable device named the Pixel Fold 2 or Pixel 9 Pro Fold. In addition to these products, we also expect the reveal of the Pixel Watch 3 series and potentially a new version of Wear OS. Registrations for the event will begin on July 31.

The invitation did not explicitly mention the Pixel 9 series but promised a focus on Google AI, Android software and the Pixel portfolio of devices. Previous leaks suggest that Google is making substantial changes to the Pixel series beyond just the launch date, with three models expected: the standard Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. The design is rumored to include an all-new flat-edge aesthetic and a revamped camera bar. It's also possible that we will see the debut of Google's next foldable device, potentially named the Pixel Fold 2 or Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
