Pop star Halsey reveals battle with lupus and other health issues in new song 'The End'
Pop star Halsey has revealed their battle with lupus, a chronic disease where the body's immune system attacks its own tissues and organs, in a new song titled 'The End' and an accompanying Instagram post. The singer, who is set to release their fifth album, said they are 'lucky to be alive' and have written an album that begins with 'The End'.
In the song, Halsey references having health issues, including a possible diagnosis of poison in their brain and blood. They also shared footage of themselves undergoing treatment in the hospital and scenes of them in a studio, recording 'The End'. The acoustic guitar ballad begins with Halsey singing, 'Every couple of years now, a doctor says I'm sick / Pulls out a brand new bag of tricks / And then they lay it on me / And at first, it was my brain, then a skeleton in pain.'
Halsey has previously disclosed their health struggles including endometriosis in 2016 and their body rebelling against them since the birth of their son in 2021. They have also been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjogren's syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).
