Israeli Military Facility Struck by Hezbollah's Deepest Drone Attack to Date, Response Strikes Follow

In a series of escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, the IDF confirmed on Thursday that a sensitive military facility in the Lower Galilee was hit by an explosive drone launched from Lebanon. The attack marked Hezbollah's deepest strike into Israeli territory amidst ongoing skirmishes along the border.

According to reports, two drones were launched in the attack, with one being downed by air defenses while the second struck the facility. The IDF responded by striking targets belonging to Hezbollah in northeastern Lebanon.

Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border on a near-daily basis. In response, Israel has carried out numerous airstrikes targeting Hezbollah's infrastructure and operatives in Lebanon.

The latest attack comes after the IDF reportedly killed Hussein Ibrahim Makki, a top field commander and intelligence officer of Hezbollah's Southern Front unit, in an drone strike on Tuesday night. The Israeli military has not yet confirmed this report.

Hezbollah has named 298 members who have been killed by Israel during the ongoing skirmishes, mostly in Lebanon but some also in Syria. In Lebanon, another 60 operatives from other terror groups, a Lebanese soldier, and at least 60 civilians have been killed.

The IDF Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari confirmed that one of Hezbollah's drones hit a sensitive military facility in the area of Golani Junction. The attack caused damage but no casualties were reported.

Hezbollah has launched thousands of drones, missiles, and rockets at northern Israel in the past seven months. The Iron Dome defense system intercepted dozens of these projectiles during that time period.

The Israeli military is urging civilians to remain vigilant and to take shelter during air raid sirens. Sirens have been sounded in several communities near the Lebanon border, including Katzrin and Sidon.

This latest incident comes amidst increasing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, with both sides engaging in a dangerous game of escalation. The situation remains volatile and uncertain.
