In a significant move in the NBA, the Philadelphia 76ers have traded James Harden, P.J. Tucker, and Filip Petrusev to the LA Clippers. The multi-team deal also involved the Oklahoma City Thunder. In return, the 76ers have acquired Nicolas Batum, Robert Covington, Kenyon Martin Jr., and Marcus Morris Sr., along with two first-round draft picks, the right to swap 2029 first-round picks with LA, two second-round picks, and cash considerations. As part of the transaction, the 76ers also waived Danny Green.
James Harden, a superstar basketball player, is joining the Clippers, a team already loaded with stars. The Clippers' coach, Tyronn Lue, believes that Harden, alongside Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Russell Westbrook, will make the necessary adjustments to turn the Clippers into a prime contender for Harden's first NBA title. The Clippers' president of basketball operations, Lawrence Frank, called Harden a 'ceiling-raiser' and believes that Harden's primary goal is to win a championship for the LA Clippers.
Harden, who had requested a trade in June and had not practiced or played with the Sixers this season, is expected to join the Clippers soon. This will be the third time Harden has played with Westbrook following shared stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Rockets. Harden, who is not yet in game shape, arrived in Los Angeles on Tuesday. This move marks Harden's fourth team change in less than 36 months. Harden is reportedly 'ecstatic' to join the Los Angeles Clippers following the trade from the Philadelphia 76ers.
