In a highly competitive situation, Apple Original Films and A24 have acquired the rights to a new murder mystery titled 'The Wives,' with Jennifer Lawrence attached to star and produce. The project, which is currently in development, draws inspiration from the Real Housewives reality franchise.
Lawrence's Excellent Cadaver production banner will produce alongside Tony and Independent Spirit Award nominee Jeremy O. Harris (Zola, Slave Play) and Josh Godfrey of bb2 Productions. Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley, the Pulitzer Prize finalist writers of 'Circle Jerk,' will pen the script for 'The Wives.'
Lawrence's latest role was in Sony's No Hard Feelings, and she previously produced Netflix's Bread & Roses. Harris is best known for scripting Janicza Bravo's Zola and currently developing series for FX, HBO, and Legendary.
Apple Studios and A24 are co-producing 'The Wives.' The two companies previously worked together on the drama Causeway, which starred Lawrence. Apple's upcoming slate includes Fly Me to the Moon with Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, The Instigators with Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, and a Formula 1 feature film starring Brad Pitt.
Lawrence is repped by LBI Entertainment and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller. Harris is repped by CAA, 2AM, and Granderson Des Rochers.
