Actor Johnny Wactor, best known for his role as Brando Corbin on General Hospital, was shot and killed during an attempted catalytic converter theft in Los Angeles on May 26, 2024. He was 37 years old.
According to reports from TMZ and other sources, Wactor was with a coworker when they saw three suspects attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his car. When he confronted them, the suspects shot him and fled the scene. Paramedics rushed to the scene but were unable to save him.
Wactor's acting career began in 2007 with a role on Lifetime's Army Wives. He went on to appear in shows such as Siberia, Agent X, Vantastic, Hollywood Girl, Training Day, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Station 19 and more. His film credits include USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage and Sisters of the Groom.
Wactor joined the cast of General Hospital in 2020 and played Brando Corbin until his character was written off in 2022. He married Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) on the show but was ultimately killed by The Hook, Heather Webber (Alley Mills).
Wactor's mother described him as a loving young man and expressed her grief over his sudden death. No suspects have been identified or arrested in connection to the shooting.
