Justin Jefferson, the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history after his recent extension, expressed his indifference towards who will be throwing him the ball come game day. In a media appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Jefferson stated that it doesn't matter who the quarterback is for him and he will make their job easier.
Jefferson has had experience playing with various quarterbacks throughout his time in Minnesota, including Kirk Cousins, Sam Darnold, and J.J. McCarthy. Despite having a preference for Cousins' leadership, Jefferson understands that the decision to leave the Vikings was ultimately about business and family.
Cousins left the Vikings to sign with the Atlanta Falcons after negotiations for a new contract fell short of their offer of $180 million over four years with $100 million in guarantees in the first three seasons. Jefferson, who signed a four-year, $140 million extension last month, expressed no anger towards Cousins' decision.
Jefferson is expected to remain a leader on the Vikings team despite the change at quarterback. His ability to adapt and make any quarterback's job easier has been proven throughout his career. Jefferson averaged 98.85 yards per game with Cousins as his quarterback, compared to an average of 93.5 yards per game when playing with other quarterbacks.
