Klay Thompson, a key player for the Golden State Warriors, had a disappointing performance in the NBA play-in tournament against the Sacramento Kings. In what was his first scoreless game in his career and only the fifth time this happened in his career overall, Thompson missed all 10 shots he took during the Warriors' elimination from the playoffs with a 118-94 loss to the Kings.
Thompson's absence was felt on both ends of the floor. The Warriors struggled to maintain their usual offensive flow due to his impact on spacing, and defensively, they committed 16 turnovers and gave up 15 offensive rebounds against the Kings.
Despite this setback, Thompson has had an impressive career with the Warriors. He has made six trips to the NBA Finals and won four championships with them. Thompson holds the sixth most made 3-pointers in NBA history, with a total of 2,481, and he has made more playoff 3-pointers than anyone other than Stephen Curry.
However, Thompson's future with the Warriors is uncertain as he enters free agency this summer. The team missed the playoffs for the first time when they had Curry, Thompson, and Draymond Green healthy together. Reports suggest that Orlando might offer him a significant contract next summer.
The Kings advanced to play at New Orleans in the Western Conference playoffs following their victory over the Warriors. Keegan Murray led their offense with 32 points, while De'Aaron Fox added 24 points and nine assists. The Warriors will now focus on rebuilding for next season.
