Bryson DeChambeau faces hip discomfort but performs well
Ludvig Aberg leads 2024 US Open with score of -5 after two rounds
Rory McIlroy drops to fifth place with score of -4
Tony Finau saves par on challenging hole 10
The 2024 US Open golf tournament at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina saw some exciting developments on the second day of competition. Ludvig Aberg, a young golfer from Sweden, took the lead with a score of -5 after two rounds. This was despite facing challenges on holes 9 and 11 where he had to save par with aggressive play and navigate difficult terrain respectively.
Bryson DeChambeau, the defending champion and current favorite, also had an eventful day. He reportedly asked for a physio due to discomfort in his right hip but continued to perform well on the course. One of his most impressive shots was a drive of nearly 350 yards at hole 10.
Another contender, Tony Finau, also had an interesting experience on hole 10. He managed a wild par save after putting up the swale from the sandy muck.
Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy dropped to fifth place with a score of -4. This was due in part to his performance in Round 2 where he shot a 2-over 72 compared to his impressive showing in Round 1 where he tied for the lead with Patrick Cantlay.
The third round of the US Open is set to begin on Saturday, June 15. Golf fans can watch it live on NBC and Peacock starting at noon ET. The coverage will include a simulcast of NBC's coverage as well as featured hole and group coverage all day.
