At least 10 people were injured in a shooting at the Lux high-rise apartment building on Johnson Street, Madison, during a rooftop party early Sunday morning. The victims range in age from 14 to 23 and include high school students. Nine people suffered gunshot wounds or graze injuries while one other person was injured by broken glass. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening at this time.
The shooting occurred around 12:45 a.m., just blocks from the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. Hundreds of people were estimated to be on the rooftop at the time, and officers found some victims hiding in a maintenance closet for safety.
Police are currently investigating with no arrests made as of 4 p.m. Sunday.
This incident comes after Madison reported a historic drop in reports of shots fired over the past five weeks, according to Chief of Police Shon Barnes.
