In the early hours of November 11, 2023, a major fire broke out at two separate pallet yards under the 10 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, leading to its closure in both directions. The fire was first reported around 12:30 a.m. near East 14th and Alameda streets and quickly spread to neighboring storage yards. The intensity of the fire was such that it affected high tension wires and melted some of the freeway's steel guardrails. This necessitated a freeway inspection by CalTrans and the diversion of traffic. LAFD Heavy Equipment operators were dispatched to assist with debris removal. The overhaul operation was expected to last throughout the morning.

Firefighters from 26 companies worked tirelessly to contain and extinguish the fire, which engulfed multiple trailers and spread to a similar-sized storage pallet yard, consuming a fire engine and several civilian vehicles. The Department of Water and Power assisted by boosting water pressure in the area. Despite the scale of the fire, residents of a homeless encampment underneath the overpass were able to escape with no injuries. The fire was eventually contained, with no extension to nearby commercial buildings.

In a separate incident on November 10, 2023, a chemical spill occurred at 1168 La Live Wy, with over 10 employees evaluated for potential exposure. Another fire incident occurred at a vacant, boarded-up two-story single-family dwelling at 6322 S Crenshaw Bl, with moderate smoke showing.
