A terrifying incident unfolded at a movie theater in Braintree, Massachusetts, on Saturday evening when a man allegedly stabbed multiple girls and later attacked employees at a McDonald's. According to various sources, the victims included three daughters of Lisa Dembowski and their friend. The suspect, identified as Jared Ravizza from Martha's Vineyard, reportedly made his way into the movie theater without paying and attacked the girls without warning.
Dembowski stated that after being stabbed, they went out of the theater but AMC did not believe them and did not call emergency services. They had to call the police themselves. The four girls were taken to hospitals for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries.
Ravizza was later arrested and is being held without bail ahead of a court appearance tomorrow. He is also being investigated for the McDonald's stabbings that occurred about an hour later, where two employees were stabbed following a pay dispute.
The girls' ages range from 9 to 17 years old. The oldest daughter was stabbed in the back, one daughter in the chest, and another across her arm. Dembowski expressed her relief that her daughters and their friend are recovering but remains shaken by the experience.
Ravizza previously faced assault and battery charges on Martha's Vineyard after allegedly attacking his father and damaging property. He is due to be arraigned Tuesday at Plymouth District Court, according to Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz.
The AMC theater team responded immediately by calling emergency services and administering aid to the victims. The theater has begun a thorough review of the incident based on associate accounts and video footage.
This incident serves as a reminder that safety should always be prioritized, especially in public places like movie theaters. It is important for individuals to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
