McDonald's, the global fast-food giant, is set to launch a new spinoff restaurant named CosMc's. The first location of this new venture is slated to open in Bolingbrook, Illinois. The concept behind CosMc's is a small-format, beverage-led restaurant with a space-themed aesthetic, inspired by the company's extraterrestrial mascot from the 80s and 90s, CosMc.
The menu at CosMc's is expected to feature a variety of beverages including teas, lemonades, coffees, slushies, frappes, and signature fruit energy drinks called Galactic Boosts. Alongside these beverages, food options will include sandwiches, pretzel bites, hash brown bites, snack boxes, stuffed pastry bites, and traditional breakfast options. The ordering experience at CosMc's is designed to be seamless and digital, with cashless payment options and drive-thru pickup.
The launch of CosMc's is seen as a strategic move by McDonald's to compete with chains like Starbucks and Dunkin'. It is also aimed at filling a slump in sales during the mid-afternoon period. Following the opening of the first location in Illinois, nine more locations are planned in Texas. McDonald's also announced plans to expand its McCrispy chicken offerings globally.
The exact opening date for the first CosMc's location has not been officially announced, but it is expected to open in early 2024.
