Measles is a highly contagious disease that can lead to severe complications for young children and vulnerable adults, spreading through the air or direct contact even before symptoms appear. Symptoms include fever, cough, red watery eyes, and a rash.
The Los Angeles County Health Officer Muntu Davis emphasized the importance of vaccination in preventing measles transmission: “Measles is highly contagious for those who are not immune to it. Initially causing fever, cough, red watery eyes and followed by a rash, it can result in serious complications for young children and vulnerable adults.”
The exact number of potential exposures remains under investigation.
