Megan Thee Stallion, the Grammy-winning rapper, is being sued by her former personal cameraman, Emilio Garcia. Garcia alleges that Megan created a hostile work environment and engaged in labor law violations during their time working together.
According to the lawsuit filed on April 23, 2024, in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Garcia claims that he was forced to witness Megan having sex with another woman while they were both in an SUV during a tour stop in Ibiza, Spain. He alleges that he was unable to leave the moving vehicle and felt embarrassed and mortified during the incident.
Garcia also alleges that Megan fat-shamed him on multiple occasions, including telling him to spit out his food and not eat it. He claims that these incidents contributed to a hostile work environment.
Furthermore, Garcia alleges that he was misclassified as an independent contractor while working for Megan full-time from late 2019 until his termination in June 2023. He claims that he regularly worked over 50 hours a week and was contacted by Megan at all hours about work. In August 2022, Roc Nation changed his pay structure to a fee-for-service setup, resulting in him earning significantly less than before.
Garcia is seeking unpaid wages, statutory labor-related penalties, interest, punitive damages, and legal fees from Megan Thee Stallion Entertainment Inc., Hot Girl Touring LLC, Roc Nation, and Megan herself. He alleges that his termination was in retaliation for his complaints about labor violations and pay issues.
Megan's attorney, Alex Spiro, denied the allegations made in the lawsuit and stated that they will deal with it in court. Roc Nation did not respond to a request for comment on the matter.
It is important to note that this is an employment claim and there are no sexual harassment claims filed against Megan Thee Stallion. However, Garcia's allegations of a hostile work environment and labor law violations are significant.
