Five years after the disappearance of Jennifer Dulos, a mother of five from New Canaan, Connecticut, her estranged husband's ex-girlfriend was sentenced to 14.5 years in prison for conspiring to murder her.
Michelle Troconis, who had been dating Fotis Dulos at the time of Jennifer's disappearance in May 2019, was found guilty of six counts related to the crime, including conspiracy to commit murder and hindering prosecution. She was sentenced on June 1, 2024.
The investigation into Jennifer's disappearance began when she failed to pick up her children from school on May 24, 2019. Her body has never been found, but evidence including a bloodlike stain with her DNA was discovered in three places: on the garage wall and door of her home, as well as in Fotis Dulos's vehicle.
Troconis played a role in helping Fotis Dulos dispose of Jennifer's clothes and clean his car, which was believed to have been used in the crime. She also tried to help him create a false alibi.
At her sentencing hearing, each of Jennifer's five children spoke about the impact her disappearance had on their lives. They expressed regret for not being able to be there for their mother when she needed them most.
Troconis addressed the court during her turn to speak, expressing remorse for being in a relationship with Fotis Dulos and bringing her family into his life.
The investigation into Jennifer's disappearance is ongoing, with authorities continuing to search for her remains and hold out hope that they will be found someday.
