A man who had been missing at sea for 13 days was found alive off the coast of Washington State, according to multiple sources. The man was one of two mariners who had set sail from Port Angeles, Washington, on a 32-foot fishing vessel named 'Kelli J' on May 22. The U.S. Coast Guard received a report that the boat was overdue on May 27. The Coast Guard, along with local agencies, initiated a search operation that covered more than 1,500 square miles. The search was suspended on May 29 after no signs of the boat or the mariners were found.
On June 4, the missing man was spotted by a commercial vessel approximately 86 miles off the coast of Cape Flattery, Washington. He was found in a life raft with food and water. The man was reported to be in good health and was transported to a hospital for further evaluation. The second mariner who was on the 'Kelli J' is still missing. The Coast Guard has resumed the search for the second mariner after the first was found.
