The Houston Texans have agreed to a three-year, $72.75 million extension with wide receiver Nico Collins, according to multiple reports.
Collins had a breakout season in 2023 with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud at the helm, recording 80 receptions for a career-high 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns.
The Texans acquired Collins in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft from Michigan.
Collins' extension comes after Houston bolstered its receiver room by trading for Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills and signing Joe Mixon to anchor the running back position.
The Texans finished last season with a surprising AFC South title and a playoff berth, their first since 2019.
Collins' production was instrumental in Stroud's historic rookie campaign, which saw him win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. Stroud completed 63.9% of his passes for an average of 8.2 yards per attempt and 273.9 yards per game with a passer rating of 105.
Collins ranked sixth in passer rating (128.4) and sixth in catch rate (73.9%) on in-breaking routes among qualified receivers, according to Next Gen Stats.
Despite the addition of Diggs and Mixon, Collins is expected to remain a key piece of the Texans offense.
Collins' extension has a maximum value of $75 million and guarantees him $52 million. The average annual value is $24.25 million, making him one of the highest-paid receivers in the league.
