Nicolas Cage, the renowned actor, has recently expressed his dissatisfaction with the final cut of his cameo as Superman in Warner Bros.' 'The Flash'. Cage stated that the scene he filmed was significantly different from what was ultimately shown on-screen. In the original scene, Cage was supposed to stand in an alternate dimension, witnessing the destruction of the universe. However, the final cut depicted him battling a giant spider, a scene he claims he did not film.
Cage's concerns extend beyond the misrepresentation of his cameo. He has also voiced his disapproval of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in films, describing it as 'inhumane' and a 'nightmare'. He believes that AI takes away from the human element of filmmaking, potentially leading to a loss of authenticity and emotional depth.
Despite his criticisms, Cage expressed his appreciation for the Superman suit designed by Colleen Atwood for the film. The suit was originally created for the never-realized film 'Superman Lives'. Atwood also shared her experience of working on 'Superman Lives' and expressed disappointment when the project was cancelled.
Director Tim Burton, known for his unique style, echoed Cage's sentiments on AI. He described AI recreations of Disney characters in his trademark style as disturbing, likening it to a robot taking away one's humanity and soul.
Cage's comments on AI and his cameo in 'The Flash' came while he was promoting his upcoming film, 'Dream Scenario'. He also praised director Andrés Muschietti and the effort put into building the Superman suit for 'The Flash'.
