Nintendo has announced that it will be holding a new Direct presentation on June 18, 2024 at 10AM ET. This presentation will focus on games coming to the Nintendo Switch in the second half of this year. It is important to note that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during this event.
According to multiple sources, including The Verge, GameInformer, and Nintendo Life, this Direct is likely one of the last focused entirely on the current Switch as its successor is expected to launch by March 2025. The second half of 2024 appears to be barren for Nintendo in terms of exclusive releases beyond Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, which has a release date of October 10.
The June Direct will be broadcast on YouTube and Twitch, as well as regional variants of the official Nintendo channel. It is set to last around 40 minutes. Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed that there will be no mention of the Switch successor during this presentation.
Some anticipated games that may be featured in the Direct include Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, Mario, Zelda, Metroid Prime 2/3, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Paris Olympics, Donkey Kong, and a Fire Emblem remaster. However it is important to note that no announcements regarding Metroid Prime 4 or Silksong are expected.
Microsoft has a deal with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to the Switch and some speculate that the first Call of Duty game(s) may be revealed at this Direct. Additionally, there have been rumors of a remake of The House of the Dead 2 being in development and it is possible that it may also be announced during this presentation.
This Direct marks the last major showcase for Nintendo in 2024 as Summer Game Fest and other big events have already passed.
