A North Carolina mother, Tamaria McRae, has filed a lawsuit against LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets after her 11-year-old son, Angell Joseph, was allegedly struck by Ball's vehicle during an attempt to obtain his autograph in October 2023. The incident occurred at Spectrum Center in downtown Charlotte during a fan event called 'Purple and Teal Day at the Hive'. According to the lawsuit, Ball drove 'in a grossly negligent and reckless manner' and struck Joseph severely, injuring him with foot and back injuries. McRae is seeking damages in excess of $25,000.
