In the tragic events of June 24, 2024, North Las Vegas was shaken by a shooting spree that left five people dead and a teenager critically injured. The suspect in this heinous crime was identified as Eric Adams, who had a history of domestic violence and robbery charges. According to police reports, the incident began when Adams visited his ex-girlfriend's apartment at 370 Casa Norte Drive in North Las Vegas.
The argument between Adams and his ex-girlfriend escalated into a violent confrontation. During this altercation, Adams shot and killed two women in the apartment: Kayla Harris, the 24-year-old daughter of his ex-girlfriend, and her 22-year-old girlfriend. An upstairs neighbor, Christopher Damian, attempted to intervene but was also shot inside the downstairs apartment.
Adams then went upstairs and took his ex-girlfriend hostage before fleeing the scene. The ex-girlfriend managed to escape during the early hours of June 25 and approached a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer with details of the shooting.
Detectives from the North Las Vegas Police Department, along with officers from the Criminal Apprehension Team, located Adams at a business in the 1500 block of E. Lake Mead Boulevard on June 25. When confronted by police, Adams was armed and died by suicide when officers gave him verbal commands to drop it.
