No immediate reports of victims following the earthquake, but three landslides were reported on the Cito Zarco highway.
The epicenter was located about 90 km from the coast of San Marcos department in Guatemala and at a depth of 25 km.
The quake was felt in both countries and caused some buildings to collapse in Quetzaltenango and San Marcos departments of Guatemala. Structural damage was also reported in El Mosquito subdivision of San Pedro Sacatepéquez.
