President Joe Biden made a visit to Seattle on May 10 and 11, 2024 for campaign events. The White House confirmed the visit, with invitations sent out by the Biden Victory Fund.
Biden arrived at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Friday evening at around 5 p.m. PT and departed on Saturday afternoon.
During his stay, he was welcomed by local and state leaders including Gov. Jay Inslee, Rep. Pramila Jayapal, Mayor Bruce Harrell, King County Executive Dow Constantine, Sabrina Constantine, Port of Seattle Commission Vice President Toshiko Grace Hasegawa,
Biden attended a campaign reception in Seattle on Friday at 7 p.m., and another in the Medina area on Saturday.
A temporary flight restriction was issued over the Puget Sound area from 4:15 p.m. PT Friday until 2:45 p.m. Saturday.
Freeway and road closures occurred for security purposes during Biden's arrival and departure from Washington.
SEA Airport halted all activity for 30 minutes before and after Biden's arrival.
President Biden last visited Seattle in 2022, also utilizing SEA airport instead of Boeing Field.
During his visit, SPU contractor crews performed pavement restoration on Sylvan Way SW between SW Orchard St and Delridge Way SW on May 11 and May 18 from 7 am to 7 pm, temporarily closing the road to traffic.
West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day took place on May 11 from 9 am to 3 pm with over 500 locations around the peninsula and a bit beyond.
Biden's visit came after he attended fundraising events in San Francisco.
