In a move to bolster their offensive line, the Las Vegas Raiders have signed veteran free agent Andrus Peat, according to multiple reports.
Peat, who was drafted 13th overall by the New Orleans Saints in 2015, brings experience and versatility to the Raiders' front. Primarily a guard throughout his career, Peat saw significant time at left tackle during the 2023 season and performed well.
The Raiders are expected to use Peat as depth along their offensive line. With Kolton Miller entrenched at left tackle and Dylan Parham and Jackson Powers-Johnson returning at guard, Peat could potentially compete for a starting role or mentor the younger players.
Peat spent nearly a decade with the Saints before signing with the Raiders. In New Orleans, he started 102 games over nine seasons and earned three Pro Bowl nods. Last season, he had a pass block win rate of 85.3% and an 81.0% run block win rate.
The Raiders' offensive line struggled in the 2023 season, allowing a league-high 40 sacks. With Peat's addition, they hope to improve their performance up front and provide better protection for quarterback Derek Carr.
Peat will join a Raiders team that has been active in free agency this offseason. They have already signed receivers Jalen Guyton and Michael Gallup, as well as offensive lineman Cody Whitehair.
