Representative George Santos of New York has announced he will not seek re-election following a report from the House Ethics Committee. The report, which followed a months-long investigation, found 'substantial evidence' of lawbreaking by Santos, leading to nearly two dozen pending felony charges. The committee has referred its findings to the Justice Department.

The report accuses Santos of criminal activity and lying to voters. Santos has admitted to lying about his life story to voters and two of his campaign aides have pleaded guilty to felony charges linked to his campaign. The report alleges that Santos used campaign funds for personal expenses, including botox treatment, purchases at Hermes and Sephora, and OnlyFans.

The House Ethics Committee found substantial evidence that Representative George Santos violated federal law. The report released by the committee detailed evidence of Santos using campaign funds for personal purposes, defrauding donors, and filing false or incomplete campaign finance and financial disclosure reports. The committee unanimously agreed on the findings.

Santos maintains he committed no crimes and has described his lies as embellishments and exaggerations. However, the committee's report concluded that there was substantial evidence that Santos knowingly caused his campaign committee to file false or incomplete reports with the Federal Election Commission, and used campaign funds for personal purposes.
