Samsung is set to bring new AI-powered health features to its Galaxy Watch lineup with an upcoming Wear OS 5 update. According to multiple reports, the update will include a range of features designed to provide more comprehensive health insights and motivational encouragement for users.
One of the most notable new features is an Energy Score, which analyzes overall health metrics including sleep, activity, heart rate, and heart rate variability to provide a summary of current condition. Additionally, Wellness Tips will offer personalized insights and motivational tips based on health data.
Sleep analysis is also getting AI-enhanced upgrades with new algorithms that can analyze sleep movement, latency, heart rate, and respiratory rate. For runners, the update will introduce new tools for monitoring aerobic and anaerobic threshold heart rate zones. Cyclists will be able to get readings for functional threshold power (FTP), which indicates a rider's maximum sustainable power according to Strava.
A new Workout Routine feature lets users string together different types of exercises for a personalized regimen, while the Race feature tasks users with trying to beat their previous times on a set route. Samsung has not yet announced an official release date for the One UI 6 Watch update, but it is expected to launch in beta form later this year.
The introduction of AI-based health features is just the beginning for Samsung's Galaxy Watch lineup. The company has also been rumored to be working on a new wearable device called the Galaxy Ring, which could debut at an upcoming Unpacked event in July.
Despite these exciting developments, some users may not be able to access all of the new features depending on their smartwatch model. Samsung has confirmed that only a limited number of users will have access to the beta program for One UI 6 Watch, which is expected to start in June. Some features may not be available for older models.
