Rapper Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, were involved in separate incidents that led to their arrests on May 24, 2024. Kingston was arrested in Fort Irwin, California on numerous fraud and theft charges without incident. The Broward Sheriff's Office in Florida had issued an arrest warrant for him based on these allegations.
Hours earlier, Turner was taken into custody during a SWAT raid at their Southwest Ranches, Florida mansion. The Broward County Sheriff's Office and Davie Police SWAT executed the search warrant following an investigation into fraud and theft charges against her.
Both Kingston and Turner have been accused of multiple counts of fraud and theft. Kingston has previous lawsuits for unpaid jewelry bills totaling over $1 million, while Turner has legal issues dating back to 2006 including a guilty plea for four counts of filing false loan applications and one count of bank fraud involving stolen funds.
The details surrounding the allegations against Kingston include his acquisition of a $150,000 television system on credit using a promise that Justin Bieber would do ads for Ver Ver Entertainment. The company later sued him for breach of contract and fraud when he failed to pay for the TV and premium sound system.
Kingston's attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, stated they look forward to addressing these allegations in court and are confident of a successful resolution. Kingston took to Instagram to reassure fans that he and his mother are okay.
The Broward Sheriff's Office did not provide further details on the arrests at this time.
